Farmersville residents'
Leonel Benavides, Caroline Benavides, Octavio Aguirre, Ana Vasquez, Maria Luz Venegas, Acension Alafa, Raul Casas, Mariana Cantu, Miguel Contreras, and Cesar Morales are going to make a difference in the Farmersville Community. They want to make sure that Present and Future children in their and surrounding communities get the education needed to be productive citizens in the 21st century. Their solution: to assist in the creation of quality education for their and surrounding communities. With the expertise from Mayra Trevino and her colleagues (
Tawanda Kitchen, Teresa Garcia-Hernandez, Dr. Larry Wilder, Summerrose Romero, and Jorge Ramos) together they will develop
BENAVIDES ACADEMY CHARTER SCHOOL a K-6th grade school. This school will be available to Farmersville, Visalia, Exeter, Ivanhoe, Tulare and other surrounding communities that are looking for an alternative.
Benavides Academy Charter School’s mission is to promote cross-culturalism,
Bilingualism, and biliteracy in English and Spanish. BACS’ students will be technologically literate and be provided with opportunities for pathways into higher education or vocation; and be equiped with skills and understanding to become global learners. BACS’ students will develop ethical attributes to contribute positively and honorably in the 21st century as leaders.
Benavides Academy Charter School has at least 300 students interested in enrolling. The vision has been submitted to Farmersville Unified School District and on January 25, 2011 they will sell it to the Board on why it should be approved.
We need everyone's support. I will keep you posted.
